Kamado Joe is the evolution of a 3000-year-old Japanese design. Ceramic walls retain heat like an oven, and KOM charcoal makes it unbeatable.

What Makes Kamado Special

Thick ceramic walls (2-3 cm) are incredible insulators. Once heated, Kamado maintains temperature for hours with minimal charcoal.

Airtight seal allows precise oxygen control. You can maintain 110°C for 12-hour smoking or 400°C for pizza.

Loading with KOM Charcoal

For Kamado, it's critical to use quality charcoal:

  1. Fill basket 3/4 full with KOM charcoal
  2. Make a well in the center for lighting
  3. Light only 2-3 coals in the center
  4. Leave lid open 10 minutes
  5. Close and adjust ventilation

The Magic of Ceramic + KOM

KOM charcoal burns clean and long - perfect for Kamado. One load can burn 8-12 hours at low temperature or 4-6 hours at high.

Ceramic reflects infrared heat back to the meat. Combined with clean smoke from KOM, it creates incredible bark on meat.

Temperature Zones

  • 110-130°C: Smoking (ribs, brisket)
  • 180-200°C: Roasting (chicken, pork)
  • 230-260°C: Grilling (steaks)
  • 350-400°C: Pizza (with pizza stone)

Why KOM is Perfect for Kamado

Quality KOM charcoal from beech, oak, and hornbeam doesn't produce excessive ash. This is critical for Kamado because ash blocks airflow.

Kamado Joe + KOM charcoal = professional BBQ at home.
